After a slower start to the season, Max Pacioretty is back in his sniper form we’re all used to. His recent performance, which has brought him just one goal shy of the 40 goal plateau has not gone unnoticed.
Pacioretty was named the NHL’s 3rd star of the week, putting up 6 points (4G,2A) in a week that saw the Canadiens start to distance themselves from the Tampa Bay Lightning in a fight for home ice advantage.
His best game came against the Ottawa Senators on April 4th, where he put up a hat trick and added two assists, as the #HotLine of David Desharnais, Thomas Vanek and number 67 really emerged.
The 25 year old from New Canaan, CT. currently leads the NHL with 11 game winning goals, and is tied for 3rd in the NHL (with San Jose Sharks Joe Pavelski) for most goals scored, at 39.
Through 70 games Pacioretty finds himself leading the Habs in scoring with 39 goals and 21 assists. Sitting 5 points back of his all time high of 65 which he hit in the 2011-2012 campaign.
One can only wonder if he would be giving Ovechkin a run for his money had he not missed those 9 games earlier on this season.
With only 3 games left before the playoffs, we’re all on the edge of our seats waiting to see if “67” can net his 40th goal of the season.
